HR Ministry condemns Houthi-Saleh rebels' torture of detainees
[16/11/2017 02:22]
ADEN-SABA

The Ministry of Human Rights has strongly condemned the Houthi-Saleh rebel militias' shocking torture of detainees in their custody which often ends up in their death.

In a statement of which Saba received a copy, the Ministry said: "The rebel militias commit the most heinous crimes against detainees, the last of which was the torture to death of Ahmed al-Wahashi man from Madhwaqayn village in al-Beidha whom the militias arrested on 15 Oct. 2017, transferred to the notorious jail of Habrah in Sana'a. He was subjected to all kinds of torture until he was broke into two halves from his backbone and died on 28 Oct. 2017."
Al-Wahashi was not the only one but "there are hundreds of detainees who died of torture in the rebel militias jails," said the Ministry.
The Ministry called on the UN organization, the UN Security Council and all concerned international organizations to pressure on the radical militias with all means of pressure to respect the universally agreed upon basic rights inherent to human beings and the international treaties made to guarantee them.
The Ministry said the militias are exercising arbitrary arrests, forcible disappearance and uncivilized and unrestrained abuses against the people whom they get their hands on calls on the international community to do something to stop their torturing and ensure their release.
The Ministry vowed that the abusers will be prosecuted locally and internationally for their "crimes against humanity."
