OHCHR inspects situation of human rights in Yemen

Deputy Minister of Human Rights MajedFadhae'l has confirmed implementing the recent Human Rights Council's decision for supporting the National Committee for Investigating Human Rights Violations' claims.

In a meeting with the delegation of the UN High Commission for Human Rights on Tuesday, Fadhae'l discussed with the delegation the situation of the commission in Yemen and providing support to the government via the ministry.

Fadhae'l briefed the delegation on the situation of human rights in Yemen and destruction of the state's institutions over Houthi-Saleh militias' war, calling the international community to stand by the legal government to reconstruct and rehabilitate these institutions, led by service one.

He reviewed statistics, figures and crimes committed by the militias including forcibly disappearance, calling the commission to exert more pressure for releasing all hostages and responding to calls of mothers of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared.
He confirmed government's respect of human rights and commitment of implementing president's directives on tackling faults and claims of violations.

He also confirmed commitment of the government in cooperation with expert teams, calling the delegation for opening an office for the High Commission in Aden.

For his part, the Head of the UN delegation Mohammad al-Norsor confirmed full partnership with the government represented by ministry of human rights, pointing out that there will be programs and activities to be implemented soon.

Director of the commission's office in Yemen al-Ubaid Ahmad confirmed that the commission will open its office in the transitional capital Aden for implementing a number of projects.
