[29/10/2017 02:57]
RIYADH-SABA
The Egyptian Foreign Minister SamehChoukry has said that political solution in Yemen is not possible if the hinderer of it is not held account clearly and avowedly.

Addressing a meeting of foreign ministers and chiefs of staff of the Arab Coalition member countries in Riyadh on Sunday, Choukry said the hinder and the party backing its solution delay tactics should be named, referring to the Saleh-Houthi rebel alliance and Iran respectively.

He asserted that Egypt will not accept any substitute to the comprehensive political solution according to its three terms of reference.

He said: "It is time for this years-old misery to come to an end … and for the outlawed groups to stop using the Yemeni territories to threaten the security of the region and the worldand using them as an operation field for terrorist organizations."

He said that Yemen is living in a stage that "might be the worst in its modern history."

"This crisis was not inevitable ..but it emerged and lasted because of the parties that pursued their narrow interests at the expense of the nation, the Saleh-Houthi forces."

He said that the Saleh-Houthi camp "still derails the resumption of political talks and relies on the help of external supporters to impose their on the people of Yemen."

He refused the militias' imposition of a de facto situation saying that "any further delaying tactics will only prolong the crisis and increase the humanitarian cost of it."

"In no case will Egypt allow the security of Saudi Arabia to be threatened," he said.

"Any attempt to avoid the overdue political solution by stretching the field of battles or using ballistic missiles against targets in Yemen or Saudi Arabia will not be accepted. And Egypt will participate with the Coalition to counter such acts firmly."
