Rebel rewritten textbooks will raise a generation full of hatred, minister says
[25/10/2017 06:59]
ADEN-SABA

The mainstream curriculum rewritten by the Saleh-Houthi rebels will "raise a generation full of hatred and misleading ideology," Social Affairs Minister Ibtihaj al-Kamal told Sayf Addin Nemer the Director General of the Aden office of the UNICEF, the organization that financed the printing of the altered textbooks.

Al-Kamal said the textbooks "spread sectarian thoughts and call for war" which violates the children's right to education.

Nemer indicated the readiness of the UNICEF to assign an ad hoc panel to refine the printed textbooks.

A couple of days ago Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi had expressed his regret over the UNICEF's financing of the textbook printing saying the curricula will "instill extremist ideology" to the new generation and "make them terrorists."

Al-Kamal and Nemer in their meeting discussed other topics besides the altered textbooks; protection of street children, the child friendly spaces and the cash transfer program for the destitute Yemenis.
