Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh told the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail OuldCheikh that the goal of the Yemeni government is "to establish a lasting peace that guarantees the security of Yemenis and the protection of the interests of Yemen's brotherly and friendly countries."
In a meeting in Riyadh on Saturday on the prospects of peace in Yemen, Ali Mohsen hailed the efforts of OuldChiekh to peace in Yemen which correlates with the global peace and security.
He said that after the Iran-aligned coup militias takeover "only the peace built on the three references - the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UNSC Resolution no. 2216 - can be the lasting peace that satisfies the Yemeni people and resolve Yemen'ssuffering for good."
He recalled the government's offers and concessions for peace in several rounds of peace talks "to which the coupers responded with only intransigence, delay tactics and dodging in a total indifference to the lives, blood and livelihoods of the people."
He called upon the international community to press for achieving peace and implementing the international resolutions.
He welcomed the UN's plan to re-open its offices in the temporary capital Aden and the positive impact of doing so.
OuldChiekh indicated the UN's quest for resuming peace talks and bringing allied efforts to build bridges of trust for talks and for bettering the miserable humanitarian conditions bred by the conflict.
