Militia support reveals how much misled and biased the UN is, al-Eryani says
[19/10/2017 08:26]

RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information Muammar al-Eryani said the "UN's provision of USD 14 million in direct support to the [Saleh-Houthi] coup militias under the pretext of landmine removal fundsdespite the militias being the planter of landmines, in tens of thousands, reveals how much mislead and biased the international body is toward the militia-made humanitarian misery in Yemen.

In a statement to Saba, al-Eryani said, "The reports of the international organizations confirm that that the militias have planted tens of thousands of landmines in a haphazard manner in cities and villages, which caused thousands of civilian causalities, women and children. And they are continuing that in all areas under their control."

"Unfortunately the UN support to the militias comes as a reward for their killing of civilians and as a signal of encouragement to plant more landmines that claim the lives of innocent in Yemeni cities and villages," he said. .

He warned of the radical militias' use of the UN-provided funds to further develop their landmine manufacturing capability and finance their war against the civilians, which props up their intransigent defiance of the UN resolutions concerning Yemen.

He said that the "UN's obvious contradiction of its ideal role toward Yemen is due to the organization's continuation to rely on couper source in Sana'a for information, omit coordination with the government and refuse to relocate office to Aden."
"This refusal [to relocate] contributed to the organization's adoption of misled attitudes and turned it to a tool in the hands of the Houthi militias."

He said the UN Secretary General and the UN office in Sana'a "bear full responsibility for the continuity of this irregularity which harms its humanitarian mission and prolongs the war that the civilians bear the cost of."

He hailed the Saudi-led Arab Coalition's support which has helped the armed forces' technical crews to unearth scores of landmines from Aden, Abyan, Dhale'a, Taiz, Lahj, Saadah, Sana'a, etc.
