Al-Yamani reflects govt's emphasis against child soldier recruitment
[19/10/2017 02:57]

NY-SABA
Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Khaled Hussein Alyemany, has reflected the government's emphasis on ending the Saleh-Houthi militias' recruitment of child soldiers as per the action plan Yemen had signed with the UNICEF in May 2014.

In a meeting with Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Virgnia Gamba, Alyemani said the militias in their areas of control send children to death instead of schools, a serious violation of the international laws and a wasting to the future of generations.

He asserted the importance of sitting with the Government over the UN Report on Children and Armed Conflict to review its content saying the figures of child violations the reportattributes to the Arab Coalition were taken from organizations aligned with the coup militias.

In another meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Andrew Lowcock, he reviewed the joint efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the destitute across the Yemeni provinces to end the suffering inflicted by the militias' ignited conflict.

He welcomed Lowcock into visiting Yemen, arranged to be made soon.
