Yemen welcomes new US approach toward Iran

Yemen has welcomed the new US approach to Iran detailed a more aggressive approach to Iran over its ballistic missile programs and its usage of extremist groups including the Houthi militias in Yemen, to destabilize the whole Middle East region.

"As part of its expansionist agenda, the Iranian regime has, for long, been exporting violence and terrorism to destabilize the security of its neighbors in the region," the Government said in a press release.

"The Iranian Revolution Guard supports and arms the Houthis in Yemen with sophisticated missiles and other knowhow, including marine landmines and boat bombs which threaten not the stability of the region alone but the freedom of shipping in the Red Sea."
"Iran's dangerous and destabilizing behavior has to stop so that peace may prevail," said the government.

It said that "the Yemeni government with backing from the Arab Coalition has managed to liberate the strategic regions in its western coast, a development that contributes to curbing the Houthi threats to southern part of the Red Sea."

It renewed its call upon the international community "to pressure on the militias and their allies to respond to the UNSC resolutions, especially resolution no. 2216, lay down their arms and return to the peace talks table as per the three agreed upon references for peace.
