Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr said that huge responsibility "lies on the political, cultural and social elites to look in depth into the current framework and rescue the country from the Saleh-Houthi militas' coup d'état."

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of the 14th October Revolution in Aden university on Wednesday, he said the militias imposed a barbaric war, of which the deep wounds incurred are still manifest in the social fabric."

He called for cooperation to maintain security by renouncing lawlessness and carrying of firearms "so that Aden city can restore its historical and civilizational status amongst all Yemeni cities."

He said: "No body can make a national decision on their own. But we can unify our ranks against the enemy, the coupers fighting against us in Taiz, Mokha, Marib, Beidha and Alhawf. If we need to protect Aden, we have to help Taiz. If we need to protect Hadhramout and Shabwah, we have to help our fellow citizens in Marib."
