Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Braik arrived Wednesday in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi on an official visit in response to an invitation from the leadership of the sisterly United Arab Emirates.

Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr has sent cable of congratulations to his Sudanese counterpart Bakri Hassan Saleh on the US lifting of sanctions against Sudan. He congratulated Bakri and the "Sudanese leadership and people who withstood in the face of the unfair challenges and punishments that lasted twenty years."
"The Sudanese people have achieved attained a big victory under the leadership of President Omar Hassan al-Basheer," read the cable.
