UAE allocates $2 million for UN humanitarian response in Yemen

The United Arab Emirates has announced Thursday the allocation of $2 million for saving lives and early recovery of children and women affected by the war in Yemen. The amount will be spent through the UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen.

The UAE's news agency "WAM" said that the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed a deal with the UNICEF in this regard.

The Assistant Minister Sultan Al Shamsi and the UNICEF's Gulf representative, Shahida Azfar were the signatories.
Al-Shamsi said the deal "comes as part of the response to the present emergency cases; the needy, mainly children under 5 and women beneficiaries across the Yemeni provinces."

It aims to expand the integrated nutrition project to a number of the malnourished persons; more than 7,444 children and 12,500 pregnant and breastfeeding. In addition to lifesaving and therapeutic nutrition.
