GENEVA-SABA
Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi said that the Arab Coalition intervened in Yemen only six months after the coup had started and all peaceful means to stop the Saleh-Houthi militias had been exhausted.
Speaking in a seminar held by the Arab-British Center for Strategic Studies in Geneva on Monday, al-Mekhlafi said that the government is still seeking a just lasting peace that sets the stage for a federal Yemen where power and wealth are fairly shared.
He said that the couper militia "is still trying to reproduce the Imamite theocracy by rebelling against the constitutional legitimacy and the outcomes of the National Dialogue and by introducing sectarian content into the school textbooks."
He said that in the Kuwait round of peace talks the militias showed they were not serious about reaching a peaceful solution and in all rounds of talks "they show foot-dragging and delaying tactics."
"We are facing a force that does not know peace, nor knows what is a civil state. Its only language is the use of weapon's force."
He vowed that "the sacrifices of the Yemenis and the Arab Coalition will not go in vain."
