Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr has issued directives to the Finance Ministry to swiftly arrange for the payment of overdue salaries to public employees in the central province of Taiz.
Bin-Daghr issued the directives in Aden on Saturday upon meeting a number of people representing disgruntled servicemen who are staging a sit-in in protest squares in their war-afflicted city to demand the government release their largely unpaid salaries.
Bin-Daghr directed the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank of Yemen to swiftly open the bank's Taiz branch office to operate and collect revenues with a view to ending the salary crisis in Taiz, equal to the other provinces retaken by the government.
He hailed the crucial role of Taiz in repelling the Saleh-Houthi invasion and offering enormous sacrifices for achieving the common goal of the Yemeni people; a federal state based on justice, equality and good governance.
"Taiz is the gateway to victory and its liberation is the beginning to complete the control over the rest Yemeni cities and provinces," the premier said. He appreciated the supporting role of the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
