[16/09/2017 04:49]

RIYADH-SABA
The Yemeni government has reacted positively to all peace efforts made by the UN envoy, whereas the Iran-aligned coupistshave spurned them all, Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi told MaeenShoreim the newly appointed deputy to the UN Special Envoy to Yemen in a reception meeting in Riyadh on Saturday.

Al-Mekhalfi cited the government's participation in in all the rounds of peace talks, the offering of concessions and the acceptance of the Envoy Ismail Ahmed's proposal to keep the Hodeidah seaport operational but under the management of a third party.

"In all rounds of talks and moments of signing truces, they [the Saleh-Houthi coupists] showed no signal of interest in ceasefire, quitting the rebellion, withdrawal from cities or handover of weapons," he told Shoreim.

He said the government is still "seeking a political settlement with a view to ending the coup" and subsequently the suffering of the Yemeni people.
