Human Rights Minister Mohammed Askarhas briefed the Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenderson the miserable humanitarian situation that Yemen is going through as a result of the Saleh-Houthi militias' coup d'état.

In a meeting in Amsterdam today, Askar said Yemen's misery is caused by the militias' coup and their violation of civilian rights and the spread of cholera which claimed many lives.

He made mention of the government and Arab Coalition's efforts to counter the epidemic. Askar said the country's breakthrough could come through a political settlement based on the three references of peace; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UNSC resolution no. 2216 on Yemen.

Askar hailed the Dutch support to Yemen's development and interest in promoting human rights and the rule of law in the country.

He expressed the government's interest in reachinga united draft resolution that supports the National Committee for Investigating into Alleged Human Rights Abuses and supports the Committee's capacity building, instead of adopting a resolution to create an international investigation panel, the thing that the Yemeni government rejects absolutely.

The Dutch minister renewed his government's support to the Yemeni state headed by President Abdu R. Mansour Hadi and agreed on the importance of continuing support for the Committee and promoting its competence to measure up to the international criteria.
