Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi received a copy of the new ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen Irma Marie Van Dueren's credentials.

Al-Mekhlafi welcomed the diplomat, in a meeting in Riyadh today, saying the government would offer her all facilitations to secure the success of her mission to promote the relationships between Yemen and the Netherlands.

Al-Mekhlafi gave her an overview of the landscape in Yemen, the Saleh-Houthi militias' violations of human rights; atrocities against citizens and journalists in particular; recurrent confiscations and other abuses incurred on humanitarian aid convoys; recruitment of child soldiers.

He also briefed her on the achievements of the National Committee for Investigating into Alleged Human Rights Abuses and the government's cooperation with the committee.

He thanked the Netherlands for providing the Committee with technical assistance.

The minister also informed of President Hadi's referral of the Committee's reports to the Public Prosecutor for further investigation and taking actions. Al-Mekhlafi said the Yemeni state leadership is determined not to allow such violations go unpunished, for human rights have to be safeguarded.

He wished success for the Ambassador's mission and more growth and development of the Dutch-Yemeni ties.
On her part, the Ambassador thanked the minister for her reception asserting the Netherland's support to the Yemeni state and government.

She showed the Netherland's interest in restoring peace and security in Yemen - according to the respective terms of reference for peace – and (the Netherland's) support to the UN Special Envoy IsmaiilOuldCheikh's efforts for peace.
