PM: UN should identify the party impeding humanitarian aid access
[11/09/2017 03:48]

ADEN-SABA
Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr said the UN should identify the party impeding access to humanitarian aid in Yemen.

In a meeting with the Humanitarian Coordinator Jamie McGoldrick in Aden on Monday, bin-Daghr said the Saleh-Houthi militias have obstructed the entitled people's access to aid. Moreover, they usurped the aid while continuing to besiege the civilians, which worsened the life of people in their areas of control, he added.

Bin-Daghr welcomed the UN organizations' efforts in providing humanitarian aid thanking the UN staff in all provinces.
"The government is following up on a continuous basis the humanitarian actions made by the UN and the international organizations," he said.
Bin-Daghr called on the UN to "take a firm stance against the militias' systematic violations" saying the world must know which party is hindering the humanitarian effort in the country.

He said that only lasting and just peace based on the three respective references can bring this suffering to end.
As for the Arab Coalition, he said, the Arab Coalition intervened only because of the militias' takeover and aggression against the state and the Yemeni people. "A situation that required an Arab intervention. There was also an unprecedented international and Arab support for the intervention," said bin Daghr.

"The militias have to withdraw from the cities, hand over weapons and stop their aggression against the Yemeni people. This the thing that will end the war."

He highly commended King Salman Relief Center, the Emirati Red Crescent, the Kuwaiti Relief Agency and all international organizations who are supporting Yemen in these difficult circumstances.
