BEIJING-SABA
Yemen's Ambassador to China Mohammed al-Mekhlafi has called on Chinese investors, public and private, to come to invest and contribute to investments in Yemen.
The Ambassador made the remarks in Beijing on Tuesday where he was heading a Yemeni delegation to the Forum of Economic and Investment Cooperation between Yunnan province, China, and the countries within the geographical scope of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
In a working paper, the Ambassador made mention of the deeply rooted relations between Yemen and China recalling the ancient commercial exchanges between Yemen and China throughout the maritime Silk Road, which connect the shores of the two friendly countries.
He spoke highly of the BRI, as a significant development strategy proposed by China's paramount leader Xi Jinping.
He said the BRI will help create better economic partnerships and infrastructure developments and to remove hindrances to financial complementation and people-to-people relations with China.
He cited Yemen's position on the land and maritime Silk Road and its most important strait of Bab al-Mendab which links the East and the West or connects the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea to the Red Sea and from there to the rest of the world.
