RIYADH-SABA
The Minister of Interior Ma. Gen. Mohammed Hussein Arab and the US ambassador to Yemen Matthew H. Tueller have discussed in a meeting on Monday the security cooperation on all levels including the fight against terrorism.
Arab asserted to the ambassador that the Saleh-Houthi militias have been committing serious atrocities by shelling neighborhoods in Taiz, the latest of which was in Beer Basha, west of Taiz, on Sunday and led to dozens of civilian casualties.
The US ambassador condemned the militias' indiscriminate shelling against civilians in Taiz, saying civilians have to be spared the conflict.
The ambassador said that the Houthis persistent rejection of the UNSC resolutions helps in spreading terrorism and extremism.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining coordination and cooperation with Yemen in fighting terrorism, securing the international shipping activity by coast guarding the Arabian Sea through to the Red Sea in cooperation with the Saudi-led Arab coalition.
Arab hailed the US for supporting Yemen in various fields.
