Yemen was a participant in the in the Regional Ministerial Conference on Aviation Security in Africa and the Middle East which wrapped up on Saturday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Minister of Transports Murad al-Halimirepresend Yemen in the event that took place from 22 to 24 August 2017; Under the theme of GASeP: the Roadmap to Foster Aviation Security in Africa and the Middle East.

As many as 350 important figures including Africa and Middle East ministers of transports, civil aviation and heads of civil aviation bodies attended the conference.

The conference addressed the outcomes of the UNSC resolution 2309 concerning countering terror threats to civilian aviation, the preparation of a Roadmap to Foster Aviation Security in Africa and the Middle East.

Also reviewed highly sophisticated technology for surveillance and aviation security and the exchange of expertise in this field.

Minister al-Halimi said such a conference was highly important for it is held in complicated circumstances that make the countries of the Middle East and Africa in pressing need for promoting cooperation in civil aviation areas amid the growing terror threat to international civil aviation.
