Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghar on Wednesday praised Egyptian stances supporting Yemen and its unity according to the GCC-brokered initiative, its executive mechanism, the National Dialogue Conference's outcomes and the UN resolution 2216.

During meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Yemen Yusuf al-Sharqawi, both sides reviewed commonalities between Yemen and Egypt, efforts of combating terrorism, safety of international navigation, development of historical relations and efforts exerted by Egypt in supporting President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

"When we met President Abdul-Fatah al-Sisi last year, he advised us to fight the Houthi-Saleh militias and at the same time restart reconstruction of the state with available resources," he added.

He hailed the Arab courage in undermining the extensive plans of Iran, its seeking to control The Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, and threating the international navigations and security of the Arab Gulf and region.

In the presence with the ministers of information Muamar al-Eryani and tourism Mohammed al-Qubati, the Egyptian ambassador reiterated his country's stances supporting Yemen and Egypt's commitment to bring back security and stability to Yemen, lauding the high-level of relations between Yemen and Egypt.
