Yemen Says Houthi Militia Poses Direct Threat to Regional Peace, Condemns Attacks on Gulf Infrastructure
Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Peace proposals face Saleh-Houthi intransigence, FM tells Ethiopian PM

The Government is keen to achieve peace and has agreed to the UN envoy's proposals for settlement but these proposals were met with intransigence from the Saleh-Houthi alliance, Yemen's Dep. Premier and Foreign Minister told the Ethiopian Prime Minister HailemariamDesalegn.

The Foreign Minister, Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi is currently on an official several day visit to Ethiopia.

During the meeting with Desalegn in Addis Ababa today, al-Mekhlafi made recalled that the UN Special Envoy IsmaiilOuldCheikh had proposed the rebel militias' handover of the Hodeida sea province to a third party, the collection of the city's revenues to the government in return for the government's repayment of public salaries.


"But the proposals were met with intransigence from the Saleh-Houthi alliance, which reflects the lack of their desire for peace and their determination to stay the track of war."

The foreign minister highlighted the depth of the historical and geographic relations with Ethiopia and their practiced and potential role for helping Yemen achieve a lasting peace.

On his part, Desalegnaffirned his country's support to the government and the efforts for achieving peace as per the international terms of reference.
