[08/08/2017 08:34]

AMMAN-SABA
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafihas reviewed gross crimes committed by the Houthi-Saleh militias against Yemenis.

In a meeting with Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen al-Obaid Ahmed al-Obaid, al-Mikhalafi cited that the militias committed murders, abductions and forced disappearances, recruited children as soldiers, cracked down freedom of expression, blew up houses of civilians and used public facilities for military purposes.

The minster hailed efforts exerted by the National Committee for Investigating Claims of Human Rights Violations professionally and neutrally, and the importance of cooperation between OHCHR and the committee.

Al-Mekhalafi urged al-Obaid to visit Yemeni governorates and see the humanitarian situation, particularly in Taiz, emphasizing that the Houthi-Saleh militias continue bombing populated neighborhoods in Taiz, confiscating humanitarian and relief aids, targeting mosques and systemically destroying health facilities.

Al-Obaid said that OHCHR will cooperate with the committee to improve its work, indicating that he will visit Aden soon to discuss with the committee the annual report on human rights in Yemen.
