ADEN-SABA

Yemeni human rights abuse investigators and the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen H.E Robert Petri discussed on Tuesday the bilateral cooperation and exchange of information in investigating human rights abuses.

Members of the National Committee for Investigating Allegations of Human Rights Abuses also discussed with Petri means of setting a limit to the abuses.

The Committee members praised the Dutch role in supporting peace, human rights, humanitarian relief and health in Yemen, through the United Nations and NGOs.

The Committee members briefed the ambassador on the committee's exerted efforts to investigate all abuse claims as per the national and international principles of investigations. Efforts that finally concluded with the issuance of the committee's third report covering the period September 2016 to June 2017. A copy of the report had been sent to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On his part, the Dutch ambassador expressed his thanks to the Committee for their work of investigations highlighting the decisive importance of early investigation of abuses, since the lack of investigations means the lack of a basis for any future equity achievement.

The achievement of transitional justice and reconstruction will rest on the Committee's present work, the ambassador said.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the Committee pursues its mission and that the war in Yemen comes to an end, so that that the Netherlands can participate in the reconstruction.
