Yemen's Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi said on Sunday that the government is working hard to address the issues of Yemenis pursuing higher education abroad.
In a meeting with the Yemeni student community in Jordan said the government is facing difficulty to fulfill its financial obligations and is yet striving and delivering those obligations because it attaches high importance to the future generations.
The foreign minister pointed to the rebels' systematic drainage of Yemen's foreign cash reserves, a practice that prompted the government to relocate the Central Bank of Yemen to Aden.
The rebels, he said, still collect the revenues within their areas of control to themselves instead of transferring them to the Central Bank to be used for paying public servicemen's salaries and for Yemenis pursuing scholarships abroad.
