PM says will resist Houthis, Saleh till they come back to senses
[05/08/2017 03:00]

ADEN-SABA
Yemen's Prime Minister said on Saturday that "we are resisting the Saleh-Houthi aggression against the state and we are going to continue resisting them until they come back to their senses."

The premier was addressing a ceremony the University of Aden organized to award him a shield in recognition of his support to the university and general academic sector in Yemen.

He said "Aden bred distinguished political and intellectual elites. Many political leaders came from Aden University, contributed to the nation building, defended Aden and offered sacrifices in the war waged by the rebel militias against the state."

Recalling his university days, the premier showed he still retains rapport with the academia, wants to have the financial issues resolved for all working academic personnel in Yemen.

He said: "We are, indeed, at the service of knowledge and learning. Through you, we project the future. And I am of the belief that there are - inside Aden University - political and intellectual thinkers mature in knowledge and worldliness enough to provide us with insights into peace."

The premier affirmed that the shortest way to peace remains the same; the return to the outcomes of the National Dialogue, implementing the rest of the GCC Initiative terms and the UNSC resolution no. 2216.

The Saleh-Houthi militias ignited the conflicted in rebellion against the Dialogue outcomes, out of their opposition to the fair sharing of power and wealth and to Yemen's transformation into a federal state, he said.
