PM: Gov't pays USD 60 million for oil derivatives a month

Yemen's Prime Minister said his government pays USD 60 million a month to purchase oil derivatives as a fuel for the power generation plants.

Chairing the Cabinet's regular meeting in the temporary capital city, Aden, on Thursday, the premier. Dr. Ahmed bin-Daghr, said the amounts are paid in US dollars to save the stability of the local currency, which maintained a stable exchange rate in spite of the country's hard circumstances and the almost total lack of hard currency.

The premier affirmed the importance of constructive institutional work, saying that serves thestate and citizens, in the first place.

He also stressed the needto afford subsidy for oil products for the use in power generation plants and for military and security use and to set a certain mechanism for avoiding oil products crisis.

The Cabinet approved a proposal from the Oil Minister Eng. SayfAshareef on mutual settling of accounts between the Aden Oil Refinery and the finance and oil ministries.

Discussing the army recapture of Khaled strategic camp in coastal Taiz, announced to have been achieved yesterday, the premier hailed it as a major gain expressing gratitude to the military and paramilitary warriors backed by the Arab coalition.

The premier offered condolences to the relatives of the soldiers fallen in the battles that ended up in accomplishing that mission.

The liberation of Khaled camp will open the door for several victories, he said. The premier expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its support to Yemen in various fields including the granting of buses to public transportation companies and government institutions in Yemen.

The granted UAE buses led to a significant improvement in the service of commuting and transportation between Aden and other Yemeni provinces, said the premier.

Futurely, new bus grants will improve the service of transportation with the rest provinces of the country.

Senior military officials briefed the Cabinet on the military advances on different warfronts against the Saleh-Houthi coup militias.
