Prime Minister Ahmad Obeid bin-Daghr received Tuesday Mohamed AbdiAffey, the UNHCR Special Envoy on the Somali Refugee Situation and discussed with himthe situation of Somali refugees.
The government and the people of Yemen pay special attention to their Somali brothers and the government is still supporting them and providing them with necessary services despite Houthi-Salehmilitias' war on the state, a matter that complicated their conditions and of the majority of Yemeni people, said bin-Daghr.
He confirmed that the government will ease the duty of the ambassador and the UNHCR for the success of their campaign and awareness programs for bringing back refugees to their country in accordance with Somali government's plan.
"A full generation was born and brought up in Yemen and will carry with them a biography full of Yemeni memories on the hospitality they found," he said.
He called on the UNCHR, international organizations and other relevant organizations to provide more support to refugees and support them with health care via making medical centers for tests and checking up to prevent the spread of diseases.
He praised efforts of King Salman's Center for Relief and Humanitarian Activities for helping Somali families return to their homeland.
For his part, the UNHCR diplomat valued efforts of the government and Yemeni people for their support and hospitality and care from their Yemeni brothers during the whole period of refuge.
