Egypt FM renews his country's support to UN efforts on Yemen

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has renewed his country's support to the UN efforts exerted efforts for securing a political settlement and peace restoration in Yemen.
In his meeting with the UN special envoy to Yemen in Cairo today, Shoukry said Egypt is following the developments in Yemen and said Egypt supports a settlement based on the three know references for peace; the GCC Initiative, the National Dialogue Outcomes and the UNSC resolutions.
Shoukry said the settlement should improve the humanitarian situations, a goal that should involve a collaborated international effort to achieve it.
The UN envoy had, at the beginning of the meeting, hailed the Egyptian role in supporting the security and stability of Yemen.
The envoy briefed Shoukry on the results of his tour and communications to raise to the warring sides the proposal on Hodeidah Red Sea port.
He noted that resolving the seaport issue is crucial for reaching a ceasefire followed by direct peace negotiations.
