Yemen Ambassador to US: Government does best to reach peace

Yemen Ambassador to the United States Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has affirmed that the Yemeni government is keen to reach peace, pointing out that it engaged with the best of intentions in all negotiation rounds in Geneva and Kuwait.
During his participation in a symposium held by the Middle East Institute on Yemen's crisis in Washington, bin Mubark said that the Yemeni government led by President Hadi proved to the world that it is serious and committed to achieve peace.
The ambassador expressed support of the legitimate government to efforts exerted by the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, reiterating that it welcomed its proposals with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
He also said that the Yemeni government is ready to engage in new rounds of negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations and on the basis of the three main terms of references which includes the GCC-brokered Initiative, the National Dialogue Conference's outcomes and the UN resolutions, particularly the resolution 2216.
In the symposium in which officials of the US State Department, the Middle East Institute, the Gulf Institute for Research, researchers and activists took part, Bin Mubarak called all journalists, research centers and all people concerned in Yemen affairs to visit all Yemeni governorates to closely know facts and transform them to the world.
The ambassador also affirmed that the Houthi-Saleh militias work to cover up facts and precluded journalists from visiting areas they run, pointing out that the militias precluded experts of a UN section committee from visiting Sana'a to investigate into violations they committed.
