The permanent representatives of the Arab League on Monday held here a consultation meeting to discuss the Yemeni crisis, and its political and humanitarian developments.
During the meeting, the UN Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed presented an overview about Yemen's situation.
He spelt out that Yemen faces a set of crises which include the deteriorated humanitarian situationwhich affected most population, affirming that most Yemenis are suffering from the lack of food security.
He hailed the positive cooperation and support of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Yemeni government, indicating that the government welcomed his suggestions regarding Hodeidah port.
The UN envoy further said that the humanitarian situation badly deteriorated due to famine and outbreak of cholera, demanding all Yemeni parties to cooperate with the United Nations and its organizations in order to alleviate suffering of Yemenis.
He noted that the war's continuation will increase suffering of Yemenis and destroy infrastructure, appealing to all sides to intensify efforts to put an end to the deteriorated situation in Yemen.
Ould Cheikh Ahmed further demanded the Arab Countries to enhance cooperation with the United Nations to end the conflict, on the basis of the three basic terms of references, bloodshed and starvation.
For his part, Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abu al-Ghait said that millions of Yemenis face numerous crises, pointing out that their suffering will worsen if the war goes on.
He stressed that the legitimacy's return will be the first step to rebuild the country and terminate its humanitarian crises.
