Education minister and donors discuss textbook printing

Minister of Education Abdullah Lamlas met today in the temporary capital, Aden, the bloc of donors for education, and discussed with them the prospect of their support to Yemen in printing new school textbooks.
The two sides discussed the financial and administrative challenges faced by the education sector. The minister affirmed the completion of preparations for the secondary school exams, set to begin next Sunday 9 July in 12 provinces.
The chief of the Public Corporation for Textbook Printing, Mohammed Basaleem, presented to the meeting a document of printing inputs quantity and specifications for next year.
He said that the corporation is in need for assistance to be able to print the textbook. The government's allotted funds for the printing the textbooks cover only 20% of the contract price, he said.
