[03/07/2017 10:12]
ADEN-SABA
Yemen's high panel in charge of curbing the virulent epidemic of watery diarrhea and cholera has called on all the country's healthcare centers to stay on high alert.

The chairman of the panel, Naser Baoom - who is also the minister of health- told prime minister Ahmed Obeid bin-Daghr in a meeting today that the call for alertness was one of his panel's decisions.

He gave the premier a detailed account on the panel's field visits to Aden Region provinces, series of meetings it held and decisions it reached in this respect.

The health minister affirmed the availability of medicines in abundance in all parts of Yemen, both the government-controlled and militia controlled parts
The panel's report stressed the importance of taking advantage of the offered support to Yemen, both the health-educational support and material support.

The report laid stress on keeping the local and international organizations' efforts coordinated to restrict the prevalence of the infectious disease.

The report however noted that the rate of curability has risen against a drop of mortalities in some provinces. In some provinces, the mortality rate stayed the same.

On Monday, the chairwoman of Choler Surveillance Unit Dr. Elan Abdul-Haq said that cholera-related mortalities and infections are on remarkable rise in downtown Taiz.

Underlying that is the coup-militias' barring of all health and relief aid convoys from entry into the city they have sieging for more than two years.
