Cholera infection is decreasing in the four provinces of Marib, Shabwah, Saadah and Mahrah, but in Taiz the infection rate is on the rise, the spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health and Population MPHP told Saba on Thursday.
The cases reported of late were in Taiz, Sana'a and Hodeidah, the spokesman, Mohammed Assadi, said.
"The lab-confirmed cases of infection reached 121in Taiz, the city under longstanding siege laid by the Saleh-Houthi militas," he said.
Assadi said: " From 27 April to 27 June of 2017, the total watery diarrhea cases suspected as cholera were 208203. The total cases cured and discharged (from hospitals) were 202180. Only 569 cases of cholera infection were confirmed. The mortalities reported were 1344."
"The rate of curability reached 98%, a positive sign and indicator that the epidemic recedes. The mortalities declined by 0.6% reflecting that the offered medical services had a good effect," he added.
The spokesman thanked King Salman Relief Center, the WHO, UNICEF and OCHA for their health aid to Yemen in countering the epidemic.
