Senior public health officials convened to discuss containing acute watery diarrhea and cholera in a meeting in the temporary capital, Aden, today.
The meeting was headed by Yemen's Deputy Minister of Public Health for Preliminary Healthcare Sector, Ali al-Waleedi and attended by the director-generals of the health ministry's branch offices and epidemiological surveillance departments in the country's provinces; the WHO and UNICEF's country representatives; the director general of OCHA; and the director of WHO office in Aden.
The meeting evaluated the interventions to contain the mentioned diseases, discussed the modality of admitting cholera vaccines into Yemen, in early July, and addressed the challenges facing the provincial ministry offices as they fight the cholera disease.
