DAWAAN-SABA
Yemen's army foiled an attack by al-Qaeda terrorist gunmen in Dawaan, a district of Hadhramout, early today.
"A terrorist group launched an assault at 4:00 dawn time this Monday, on military outposts within the (2nd Military) Region, using Toshka machine guns and mortar rounds. But the army repelled them forcing them to flee," a military source in the Region's command told Saba.
"The troops on duty controlled the situation and laid a security cordon to chase the terror elements," said the source.
The operation resulted in the killing of one soldier and mild injury of two others, for which they were hospitalized, according to the source.
The source affirmed the readiness of the military to offer more sacrifices to establish security and uproot terrorism from the country.
The source urged the information media especially websites to verify the authenticity of relevant news rather than rushing to hype such events and stoke panic amongst the public.
