RIYADH-SABA
The US ambassador to Yemen has emphasized the necessity of maintaining coordination between the Yemeni and US governments in the fight against terrorism and Iranian interferences in Yemen and the region.
The ambassador Matthew Tueller made those remarks in a meeting with Yemen's Dep. Premier and Foreign Minister. Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi in the Saudi capital Riyadh, on Wednesday.
Al-Mekhlafi welcomed the G-18 countries' issued condemnation of the recent attack on the motorcade of the UN special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh as carried out by Houthi militants in the capital Sana'a. "They (Houthis) bear responsibility for the attack," al-Mekhlafi said.
"This criminal attack won't prevent the government from pursuing a peaceful lasting solution for the conflict," al-Mekhlafi said. "The government will continue to support the UN envoy until solution is achieved with support from the peace sponsoring and loving nations in accordance with the three agreed-upon references."
The minister gave the ambassador an account on the government's efforts to improve the services and quality of life, in general, for the people in the liberated regions.
He pointed out to specific collaborations with the UN organizations, King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid and the Red Crescents of the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.
He said that these aid organizations face a lot of difficulty while trying to deliver relief aid and medicines to areas under Houthi control.
