ADEN- SABA
The Union of Yemeni Journalists decried the Houthi-Saleh militia's execution of "a full-blown terrorist slaughter" against journalists in Taiz on Friday.
Nabeel Al-Useidi, a senior member of the union, blamed the rebel leaders for the killing of three journalists and severe wounding of two others, young photo journalists.
Wayel Al-Absi, Taqyo Al-Adeen Al-Hodheifi and Saad Al-Nidhari, three were killed, whereas Waleed Al-Qadasi and Saha Addeen Lhodehifi were injured while covering clashes in the east of Taiz city.
These "crimes come after a series of systematic incitements against journalists by the Houthi organization, on top of which is the organization's leader who called openly for the elimination of journalists," said Al-Useidi. "The continued silence of the competent international institutions encouraged the rebels to commit all sorts of crimes and keep on violating the international laws."
Al-Useidi appealed to the United Nations to stand responsibly against these crimes and take measures to get the perpetrators arrested and brought to international courts to face justice as war criminals.
Al-Useidi called on all media outlets to provide occupational safety training for their reporters before deploying them to cover conflicts.
