FM, EP discuss restoring order in Yemen
[05/05/2017 03:29]

Brussels, (Saba) - Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed Thursday with Deputy Head of Relations with Arab Peninsula at European Parliament Salvatore Chicco conditions in Yemen and efforts exerted by the government to realize peace, restoring the state and ending the citizen's suffering.

The core of the problem in Yemen is Houthi-Saleh's war against Yemeni people; seizing cities and bombarding houses, said al-Mikhlafi.

He made it clear that the war has not started in March 2015 with Arab Coalition's airstrikes as some claim and is not a war between rich and poor as Iranian- supported machinery propagates.

"Even if the coalition's interference stops its support to legal government, the war will continue because rebels will continue subjecting Yemeni people by force and Yemeni people will not accept that," he said, adding the solution is upending the coup, withdrawal weapons from militias and return to political approach.

The European Union must repeat its strong message to rebels and putting pressure on Iran to stop its support to Houthi-Saleh's militias with weapons to kill Yemeni people and threat neighbors, the region and the world in one of the most important water passages, said al-Mikhlafi.

He confirmed that the legal government is always working for peace and still making possible concessions for the sake of peace and the world community has been always witnessing.

For his part, Salvatore Chicco confirmed the European Union's support to legal government saying:" I confirm to you and to the Yemeni people you are not alone."

He also confirmed his keenness on realizing peace and ensuring security and stability to Yemen and to the region.
