Yemen, Belgium discuss latest developments

Brussels, (Saba)-Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affair Abdul-Malik al-Mikhlafi discussed on Tuesday with Belgium counterpart Didier J.L. Reynders latest developments in Yemen and means of enhancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The meeting dealt with Houthi-Saleh militias' practices of hindering efforts of peace in accordance with the three references; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.

Minister al-Mikhlaf highlighted attitudes of Belgium for supporting Yemen on bilateral level or through European Union and its institutions.

"The government of Yemen is demanding the European Union to support peace process and efforts of UN envoy to establish peace in accordance with the three references and directing clear messages (to Houthis) on releasing detainees and forcibly disappeared people," said al-Mikhlafi.

He confirmed government's commitment on handing over humanitarian aid to all Yemeni regions without exception.

" The government is seeking today to build human being and the future after rebels destroyed the state, and Yemen needs from European Union technical and financial support to train local cadres in different fields," said al-Mikhlafi.

For his part, the Belgium foreign minister renewed support of his country to Yemeni government and to efforts of the UN for realizing peace and supporting efforts of humanitarian efforts.

He also confirmed his country's agreement on providing humanitarian aid and support to Yemen in field of training and training Yemeni diplomats, as well as cooperation and coordination with Yemen in fighting efforts.
