China supports reconciliation in Yemen on basis of UN resolutions

Riyadh (Saba)- Chinese Ambassador to Yemen Tian Qi has called the international community to exert further efforts in order to reach a political reconciliation in Yemen and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Yemenis.

He made clear that the reconciliation must be on the basis of the UN resolutions, particularly the UN Resolution 2216, the GCC-brokered initiative and outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference.

The Chinese Ambassador told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that China attaches great attention to Yemen and its humanitarian crisis, signaling out that China is ready to collaborate with the international community to reach a reconciliation for Yemen and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis.

"China is keen to help Yemenis, particularly as the Yemeni crisis is considered the largest humanitarian crisis, and the international community should provide assistances to alleviate famine faced by the Yemeni people" the ambassador added.

He renewed his country's insistence to protect Yemen's sovereignty and independence, calling for giving precedence to the national interest over any other consideration.

He made clear that the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Esmail Ould Cheikh Ahmed exerted great efforts to find out a solution for the Yemeni crisis, pointing out that China will support his efforts to push ahead the political process.
