Yemen demands UN changing relief pathway to Taiz
[27/04/2017 12:05]
Aden, (Saba) - The government of Yemen has demanded the United Nations to change the pathway of relief to Taiz from Hodeida Port to Aden Port as a safe track to ensure arrival of aid assistance to needy people.

Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulmallik al-Mikhlafi has sent a letter to the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Jamie McGoldric in which he said the continuation of Houthi-Saleh militias' violations and obstacles they create before humanitarian assistances deprive affected people of access to the relief.

"We want to draw your attention the militias, in persuasion to their practices, are still seizing 180 trucks loaded with relief aid since Sunday 23 of April, and hindering their arrival to the besieged city of Taiz. The militias have also seized medicines and medical equipment sent to renal center at al-Thawrah Hospital in Taiz," read the message.

The government hoped that the international community denounces such practices and quickly interferes to put pressure on the militias to release these trucks and allow all humanitarian and health aid to Taiz easily.

The government confirmed that there are no more logic justifications to keep the pathway of humanitarian aid to Taiz from Hodeida Port, which is under control of Houthi-Saleh's militias, who pose dangers to the aid while there are safe tracks through Aden Port.

The government highly valued continuous efforts of the UN to help alleviating burdens of humanitarian crisis on Yemeni people.
