Al-Faisal stresses importance of integrating Yemen into GCC
[16/04/2017 12:51]
Paris (Saba)- Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies Turki al-Faisal has stressed the importance of integrating Yemen into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and granting it full membership, albeit gradually.

He pointed out that security and stability of Yemen is an integral part of GCC states', asserting that the GCC States should give priority for investment in Yemen and provide opportunities for Yemenis to work in the GCC States.

In a paper presented at an symposium held by the Yemeni embassy to Paris on "Yemen's situation and requirements of peace", al-Faisal said that the acceptance of the solution's terms of references and restoration of the Yemeni state is the only way to bring Yemen back to its natural place, and the building of a new fair Yemeni state which achieves all aspirations and ambitions of Yemenis.

He made clear that the Houthi-Saleh militias left no room for diplomacy, pointing out that Saleh wanted returning to power and the Houthis operated to take Yemen towards ideological trends backed by Iran.

He emphasized that all the conflicts of Yemen will be resolved only through acceptable political solution, signaling out that the solution is well-defined and those who stand against it are responsible for suffering of Yemenis.

The GCC States particularly Saudi Arabia should support the Yemeni state to extend its sovereignty on its territories, enhance its military and intelligence abilities, reconstruct the state institutions, tackle repercussions of the war and boost its economy.
