Cairo (Saba)- The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has announced the expansion of humanitarian relief operations to nine million Yemenis who need food urgently.
A statement circulated by WFP's office in Cairo noted that the cost of the new urgent one-year operations is $1,2 billion, indicating that WFP will increase its assistances gradually to supply food to all people who suffer from food insecurity.
It spelt out that WFP's new plan is to give monthly food assistances to 7 million Yemenis as well as other assistances with the aim of preventing malnutrition and treatment of 2,2 children, signaling out that it will also provide assistances to lactating and pregnant women to improve nutrition.
