17,000 kidnapped persons held in Houthi custodies

– The figure of kidnapped and detained persons inside the custodies of the Houthi-Saleh militias has amounted 14,000 since they carried out a coup against the legitimate government and took over a number of Yemeni governorates.

Human Rights Ministry said in a statement, which the Yemeni News Agency (Saba)obtained a copy of it, that the figure of enforcedly disappeared persons is about 3000 persons including the Defense Minister Mahmoud al-Subaihi, the politician Mohammed Qahtan, and the military commanders Nasser Mansour Hadi and Faisal Rajab.

The names of these four persons were mentioned in the UN Resolution 2216 which demanded to safely release them , the statement added.

According to the statement, the Houthi-Saleh militias used to gag mouths of people, arrest and detain political foes or any others who they think they oppose them. They turned about 4000 public and private facilities into places of detentions, seizure and torture.

The ministry documented the death of 73 persons under torture, asserting that they used all sorts of torture and degradation of human dignity .

"While all local, regional and international organizations demand the Houthi-Saleh militias to end their criminal acts and swiftly release all enforced prisoners, the Houthi-Saleh militias they continue their arrests, detentions and torture, " the statement added.

The Houthi-Saleh militias have recently carried out illegal trials against detained civilians, the statement added.

The ministry also demanded the international community to act decisively to put an end to practices of the militias and save the Yemeni people from their tyranny and repression.

"This repression will not be ended through statements of condemnation and it will be only ended through the force" the statement concluded.
