Planning Minister praises outcomes of Joint Committee

Planning and International Cooperation Minister Mohammed al-Sa'adi has praised outcomes of the Joint Meeting for Identifying Development Needs of Yemen, pointing out that they will enhance development and humanitarian support provided by the GCC states in various fields.

The Joint Meeting for Identifying Development Needs on Wedensday concluded its works in Riyadh in which a number of Yemeni ministers and officials, representatives of the GCC states and development funds took part.

Al-Saadi said that the Operation Decisive Storm led by the Saudi Arabia came to put things into realistic proportion and perspective after the Houthi-Saleh militias carried out a coup against the legitimate government and the national consensus.

"The Houthi-Saleh militias took over the capital Sana'a and other cities and break down all agreements and conventions."

He also said that the security, political and humanitarian situation dauntingly declined and the poverty rate amounted 62%, reiterating that 16 million Yemeni face famine and 50% suffer from food insecurity.

He also indicated that all essential services including electricity, water and medicine were cut off, mentioning that 22 million Yemenis needs to food assistances and that 3 million persons displaced.

GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political and Negotiations Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheq said that the committee has a lot of tasks, pointing out that the GCC states will operate with the legitimate government to restore security and stability to Yemen.

Al-Owaisheq also said that the GCC states will rehabilitate the Yemeni economy and integrate it in the GCC economies, pointing out that they will cooperate with Yemenis to develop their economy.
