Masam Removes 1,609 Mines, Unexploded Ordnance on May Fourth Week

The Masam Project operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to clear Yemeni land of mines, removed 1,609 mines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the fourth week of May.

These hazards had been planted by the Houthi terrorist militias in several governorates across Yemen.

According to a statement issued by the project's Operations Room, the items removed included 1,584 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 21 anti-tank mines and four anti-personnel mines.

The statement added that the total number of mines, UXO, and explosive devices removed by Masam from the beginning of May through May 29 reached 6,323, including 5,730 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 401 anti-tank mines, 172 anti-personnel mines, and 20 improvised explosive devices.

The statement noted that during May 2026, Masam teams successfully cleared approximately 1,202,243 square meters of Yemeni land, helping reduce threats to civilian lives and creating safer areas for civilian and agricultural use.

It further stated that field teams cleared 8,200 square meters of land during the past week alone as part of ongoing responses to field reports and emergency clearance operations in affected areas.
