Yemen Participates in World Urban Forum in Baku

The Republic of Yemen participated Sunday in the activities of the 13th World Urban Forum held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, under the theme: “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities.”

The Yemeni delegation was headed by the Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Hussein al-Aqraabi.

The forum, taking place from May 17 to May 22 with broad participation from governments, international organizations, and experts from around the world, discusses the urgent need to address the global housing crisis and strengthen the role of housing as a key driver of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban development, contributing to the creation of safer and more sustainable cities and communities.

Minister al-Aqraabi affirmed that Yemen’s participation in the forum reflects the country’s commitment to strengthening its active presence in international events related to sustainable urban development issues and benefiting from international experiences and expertise in urban planning, housing, and reconstruction.

He also pointed to the importance of expanding international cooperation and exchanging expertise in support of Yemen’s efforts to develop infrastructure, improve urban planning, and enhance cities’ ability to face various challenges.

The 13th World Urban Forum is considered one of the most prominent international platforms organized by the United Nations to discuss urban and development challenges worldwide.
