The operations room of the Masam Project announced its April achievements, reporting a significant increase in demining activities and clearance of war remnants across Yemen.
In a statement to Saba, the project said its teams removed 6,827 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices during the month, as part of ongoing efforts to secure affected areas and protect civilians.
The breakdown included 6,402 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 367 anti-tank mines, 34 anti-personnel mines, and 24 improvised explosive devices, underscoring the scale of threats faced by field teams.
The statement added that Masam teams cleared 1,510,792 square meters of land in April, contributing to the rehabilitation of affected regions and restoring them for safe use.
On a weekly basis, the project reported removing 1,009 mines and explosive remnants during the final week of April.
This included 928 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 78 anti-tank mines, and three anti-personnel mines, alongside the clearance of 373,455 square meters of land.
In Midi district, the statement noted that a total of 9,246 mines and explosive remnants have been removed since the start of operations there, as part of sustained efforts to enhance civilian safety.
Project Director Osama Al-Gosaibi highlighted continued progress since the initiative’s launch in June 2018 through May 1, 2026. He stated that Masam teams have removed a total of 558,016 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices nationwide.
This total includes 391,368 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 151,049 anti-tank mines, 7,157 anti-personnel mines, and 8,442 improvised explosive devices.
Al-Gosaibi also noted that the project has cleared approximately 79,505,382 square meters of land across Yemen since its inception, reflecting the extensive scale of demining operations and the ongoing commitment to safeguarding civilians.
