Deputy Governor of Marib Dr. Abd-Rabu Miftah discussed Monday with the new head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) office in the governorate Ignacio Javier Martin strengthening humanitarian partnership.
The two parties discussed also coordination between them in implementing intervention projects carried out by the committee in the fields of food, health, water and livelihood improvement.
The meeting reviewed the humanitarian situation in the governorate, which has absorbed more than 62% of the displaced population under extremely difficult humanitarian and living conditions.
It also addressed the significant gap between the growing basic humanitarian needs and the sharp decline in international humanitarian funding, in addition to the repercussions of the economic crisis and the effects of regional conflicts in deepening the humanitarian crisis and worsening the living conditions of both the displaced and the host community.
Deputy Governor Miftah welcomed the new head of the ICRC office, praising its humanitarian role in the governorate and its interventions since the early days of the war through projects that have helped alleviate the suffering of citizens and displaced people, and supported the continued provision of essential services such as water, health and others.
He affirmed the local authority’s commitment to continue providing all forms of support and facilitation to the office to implement humanitarian interventions that respond to priority needs and serve both displaced persons and the host community.
For his part, the new director of the Red Cross in Marib confirmed that the International Committee of the Red Cross gives Marib special priority and attention in its humanitarian interventions to alleviate the suffering of displaced people and the host community.
He also praised the significant facilitation provided by the local authority to the committee in implementing its interventions and its commitment to strengthening humanitarian partnership to serve the targeted groups.
